PROJECT MANAGER – EPC (REFINERY / PETROCHEMICAL PROJECTS)

Job Description

The Project Manager shall have overall responsibility for the successful technical, commercial and contractual execution of a major EPC project from Detailed Engineering through Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Project Close-out. The role shall serve as GREPL's single-point interface with the Engineering Subcontractor, Owner, PMC, Licensor and major vendors, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, while maximizing project cash flow and protecting the Company's contractual interests

Roles & Responsibilities

  • 1. Overall Project Management
  • Lead the project through Detailed Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Project Close-out.
  • Ensure achievement of project objectives relating to safety, quality, schedule, cost and profitability.
  • Develop and monitor project execution strategy, key milestones and resource requirements.
  • Identify project risks and implement timely mitigation measures.
  • Coordinate all internal departments to ensure smooth project execution.
  • 2. Engineering Coordination
  • Manage and coordinate the Detailed Engineering Consultant and monitor engineering progress against the approved schedule.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Manager to ensure timely completion and review of engineering deliverables.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering interfaces and timely closure of technical queries.
  • Ensure compliance with Owner, PMC, Licensor and statutory requirements.
  • Provide engineering support to procurement and construction activities.
  • 3. Client, PMC & Licensor Coordination
  • Act as GREPL's primary interface with the Owner, PMC, Licensor and Engineering Consultant.
  • Attend progress review meetings and present project status.
  • Ensure timely resolution of technical, contractual and commercial issues.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with all project stakeholders.
  • 4. Procurement & Vendor Management
  • Coordinate procurement activities with the Procurement Department.
  • Monitor vendor engineering, manufacturing and documentation schedules.
  • Expedite critical vendor deliverables.
  • Coordinate technical discussions with vendors and package suppliers.
  • 5. Construction & Site Coordination
  • Provide overall direction and support to the Site Project Team.
  • Coordinate engineering support for site execution.
  • Monitor construction progress and resolve issues affecting project execution.
  • Undertake regular visits to site and participate in progress review meetings with the Site Team, Owner and PMC.
  • 6. Planning & Project Controls
  • Monitor engineering, procurement and construction schedules.
  • Review project progress against approved baselines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Postgraduate qualification preferred).
  • Minimum 15-20 years' experience in execution of large EPC refinery, petrochemical, oil & gas or process plant projects.
  • Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary engineering, procurement and construction activities.
  • Strong understanding of refinery engineering practices, ASME/API/OISD/NFPA and relevant international codes and standards.
  • Experience working with reputed PMCs such as EIL, Technip Energies, Bechtel, Worley, Toyo, Fluor or equivalent.
  • Experience coordinating outsourced Detailed Engineering Consultants will be an advantage.
  • Strong commercial, contractual and project management skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and undertake regular site visits.
